About us

About us

More than just a

church

At New Covenant, we have people from all backgrounds, ages and races who come together to worship and experience God. One of the first things people notice about us is our diversity. We believe the local church should be a snapshot of heaven - that’s what it’s like to join us on a Sunday - a little piece of heaven on earth!

We’re more than just a church that meets on Sunday. We’re organized around helping you discover your gifts and passions so you can put them to work making the world around you a better place. We believe purpose makes all the difference in life and we want to help you discover your purpose so you live the best life possible.

Common Questions

Hi there! Have some questions about our church? Find the answers below.

  • What are your Sunday services like?

Every Sunday at New Covenant, you’ll experience a welcoming and friendly atmosphere with exciting worship music and a practical, relevant message.  We give time in the service for personal prayer.    We practice the Biblical directives to pray for the sick and those in need with the laying on of hands and anointing with oil.

  • What will happen when I visit for the first time?

If you are visiting for the first time, we will not embarrass you, have you stand up, or ask you to give money. We know that many people want to check out the church and “be anonymous” for a while—and that’s fine with us! Come in, enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, and see if this is the church for you.  We give a “no hassle guarantee” to all of our first-time guests.  This means we won’t bother you with phone calls or emails.  When you fill out a Connect Card, you'll simply receive something in the mail from us.

  • What do I wear to attend your services?

You’ll find everything from casual clothes to business suits at our Sunday services. Come in what is comfortable for you, because New Covenant is not about what you look like or what you wear, it’s about who you are.

  • Where are you located?

Our address is 1425 Newton Bridge Road, Athens, GA 30607.  Plug our address into your favorite maps or GPS tool and it will bring you right to the church.

  • Do you have a midweek service?

We have Worship & Prayer on the first Wednesday of every month.  Many Connect Groups often meet on Wednesdays as well.  Check our current schedule of Groups to get involved in the life of our church outside regular weekend service.  Covenant Youth, our ministry for 8th-12th graders meets every Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

  • What about my children?

Your children are a top priority at New Covenant.  Our ministry to birth through 4-year-old is called Covenant Clubhouse.  We keep those areas clean, safe, and staffed with loving workers.  Our ministry to 5-year-olds through 4th grade is called Covenant Kids. It is a dynamic environment where kids have fun, learn a Bible lesson, memorize scripture, and learn how to pray.  All of our areas are staffed by workers who have gone through a background check.

  • How can I meet others and get connected?

There are many ways to get involved. You can begin by attending our Growth Track. Connect groups are another great way to connect. In each of these, you can build friendships, learn more about the life of our church, and have the opportunity to grow in your faith.

  • How can I be discipled and grow?

Connect groups are the best way you can be discipled and grow.  They are a vital part of New Covenant.  In fact, you haven’t fully experienced church until you’ve experienced connecting in a small group. Groups allow you to meet other members and develop relationships that will spur your relationship with God.  Our groups meet for three semesters during the year:  ten weeks in the Winter/Spring, six weeks in the Summer, and ten weeks in the Fall.
